DHS BAND STUDENTS RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS HONOR!

This school year has been a memorable one for the Dollarway High School Band Program. For the first time ever three students from Dollarway were chosen to participate in the Four States Bandmasters Association Honor Bands. Those students are seniors: Makhiya Jackson, Romello Turner, and Ladajah Green. This is a very prestigious honor! Students from various regions were nominated by their band directors from schools in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

These students were selected by the committee based upon their musical achievements such as All-Region, All-State, etc. Only 300-375 students are chosen for the honor bands. Makhiya Jackson placed 13th Chair in Concert Band. Romello Turner placed 7th Chair in Symphonic Band and Ladajah Green placed 6th Chair in Symphonic Band. This is unique in and of itself because Dollarway High School was the ONLY SCHOOL DISTRICT in Pine Bluff that had students selected to participate. The convention was held in Texarkana, TX on January 16th - January 18th. Congratulations to these students!!
